A quotation is a written offer to supply goods or services at a stated price, valid for a stated period. Once the buyer accepts it, usually with a purchase order, the quoted price and terms become the basis of the deal.
A quotation is not a tax document under GST, so there is no prescribed format. A good one still answers everything the buyer will ask: what exactly, how much including tax, by when, and on what terms.
An estimate is an approximate cost that may change once the work is measured. A quotation is a firm price for a defined scope, valid until a date. A proforma invoice is a draft bill sent after the deal is agreed, usually to collect an advance or open a letter of credit.
If prices of materials move fast (steel, cement, copper), keep validity short and say so, or add a price-variation clause.
Rebota keeps every quotation with its revisions, marks it accepted or rejected, and converts the accepted one into a sales order, then a delivery note and invoice, without retyping a line. You see which quotes are open, won or lost in the sales pipeline.
