Record work done at site the way it is checked: item, location, number, length, breadth and depth, with deductions and an abstract of quantities per item. Free, no sign-up.
Leave a dimension blank to measure in fewer dimensions (area or length). Enter a deduction with a negative Nos, for example −2 for two openings.
The measurement book (MB) is the record of work actually done, measured at site. Each line gives the item, where it was measured and its dimensions, so anyone can check the quantity later. It is the basis of every running bill and of the final bill.
In government works the MB is a numbered, bound register issued to the engineer; entries are made in ink, dated and signed, and nothing is erased: a wrong entry is struck through, rewritten and initialled. Private contractors keep the same discipline because the client’s engineer checks every bill against it.
IS 1200 sets the method of measurement for each kind of building and civil work: the unit, how dimensions are taken and what is deducted. For example, in plastering small openings are not deducted while larger ones are, with the size limits set in the code. Measure the way the contract says, usually IS 1200 or the method in the tender.
Dimensions are generally recorded to the nearest 0.01 m, areas to 0.01 sqm and volumes to 0.01 cum. The maker rounds each line’s quantity to two decimals.
Rebota’s measurement book records each entry against its project and BOQ item with nos, length, breadth and height, works out the quantity and amount, and moves it from draft to submitted, certified and included in bill. Only a project manager can certify an entry, and the verifier’s name is required. Work done logged in the site diary can be turned into an MB entry for the linked BOQ item.
