Send a job to the shop floor with its route: each operation with machine, operator, start and end time, good and rejected quantity. Hours add up as you type. Free, no sign-up.
A job card (also job sheet, route card or traveller) goes with a production job on the shop floor. It names the part, the quantity to make and the order it is for, then lists every operation in sequence; each operator fills in the machine, the start and end time, how many came out good and how many were rejected.
Completed job cards are the source of labour and machine hours for costing, of scrap figures for quality, and of proof that each operation was done before the next one began.
Add up the hours per operation and multiply by the machine-hour and labour rates to get the conversion cost of the job. Set the hours against the standard time to see where the job ran slow.
Rejections per operation show where scrap is made. A piece rejected at final inspection has already used up every operation before it, so catch it at the operation that caused it.
In Rebota a production order takes its routing from the bill of materials. Each operation is completed with the good and rejected quantity, setup and run minutes and a reject reason, and an operation that needs inspection can’t be closed until it passes. Material is issued to the order from the batch and store it sits in, finished goods are received into stock, and the order shows its actual cost against plan.
