A delivery challan goes with goods that move without a tax invoice: sent for job work, sent on approval, moved to your own branch or site, or liquid gas whose quantity is only known at delivery. Rule 55 of the CGST Rules sets out when you can use one and what it must contain.
Make it in triplicate: original for the consignee, duplicate for the transporter, triplicate for you. The maker’s status setting prints the copy name on the document.
Inputs sent for job work must come back (or be supplied from the job worker’s place) within one year, and capital goods within three years. If they don’t, the dispatch is treated as a supply on the day it left, and tax and interest follow.
When the value of the consignment is above ₹50,000, the movement also needs an e-way bill, and the challan travels with it. Some states set their own limit for movement within the state.
Rebota makes delivery notes from sales orders and job-work challans from production, tracks what went out and what came back, warns you before the job-work deadline runs out, and makes the e-way bill from the same record.
