How to use the Discount Calculator

  1. Enter the original (list or MRP) price.
  2. Enter the discount percentage.
  3. If there is a second discount (coupon, extra off), enter it too.
  4. Read the final price and total savings.

Formula used

Final price = Price × (1 − D1) × (1 − D2)

Effective discount = 1 − (1 − D1) × (1 − D2)

Example: 20% then 10% = 1 − 0.8 × 0.9 = 28% off, not 30%.

Discount Calculator — FAQs

How do I calculate a discount?▾
Multiply the price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the amount off, then subtract it. 20% off ₹2,000 is ₹400, so you pay ₹1,600.
Is 20% + 10% the same as 30% off?▾
No. The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the total is 28%.
Is GST charged before or after discount?▾
In India, a discount shown on the invoice at the time of sale reduces the taxable value, so GST is charged on the discounted price.
How much can I discount and still profit?▾
Your discount must be smaller than your margin. With a 30% margin, a 30% discount leaves zero profit — use the profit margin calculator to check.
